Pediatric Advance Life Support
Participants will be able to:
• Follow a systematic approach when responding to patients who are experiencinga respiratory, shock, or a cardiac emergency.
• Distinguish between respiratory distress and failure.
• Discuss a respiratory emergency, such as upper airway obstruction, lower airway
obstruction, lung tissue dissemination, and central respiratory diseases.
• Provide immediate and early emergency care for respiratory distress and failure.
Distinguish between compensated and hypotensive shock by recognizing early signs and
symptoms of distinct types of shock.
• Identify hypovolemic, obstructive, cardiogenic, and distributive shock as causes of shock
emergencies.
• Provide immediate and early emergency care for different types of shock.
• Differentiate between arrhythmia patients who are stable and those who are unstable.
• Demonstrate an emergency management for cardiac arrhythmias and cardiac arrest.
• Provide post-cardiac arrest treatment
